Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA)

High Sensitivity, Rapid Results.

Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA) is a powerful diagnostic technique used in autoimmunity laboratories. It utilizes magnetic particles to separate immunocomplexes. The chemiluminescence of acridinium ester produces a measurable signal—a flash of light. CLIA provides high sensitivity, specificity, and quantitative results.

It significantly impacts efficiency in autoimmunology labs, aiding in the diagnosis of autoimmune diseases. The short incubation times enable a continuous workflow which is much more flexible to use than a batch workflow, where samples need to be gathered to begin a run.

About Chemiluminescence Immunoassay (CLIA)

In a Chemiluminescence Immunoassay, the immune reaction occurs on the surface of paramagnetic particles in a suspension. These reactions are usually performed in a cuvette. The particles are then coated with specific antigens or antibodies, which react with the patient serum in a first incubation.

After the first washing, the particles are incubated with conjugate, washed again, and measured in a light detection unit. Triggers are then injected into the cuvette, which lead to a luminescent reaction. The light intensity is proportional to the concentrate of the analyte.
